What is PRINCE2® Agile?
Structured delivery meets agile flexibility.
PRINCE2® Agile has just undergone its most significant transformation since its launch in 2015. Grounded in the proven framework of PRINCE2®, VERSION 2 (V2) is a modernised release designed for the dynamic, fast-paced world of agile project delivery.
At Althris, we now offer updated training and certification pathways to support individuals and organisations looking to embrace structured agility with confidence.
Why PRINCE2® Agile has been updated
Agile is no longer confined to software teams – it’s a strategic capability adopted across industries. As organisations scale agile practices beyond individual teams, the frameworks supporting them must evolve too.
PRINCE2® Agile V2 responds to:
- The growing need for organisation-wide agility
- A greater focus on agile leadership and culture
- Demand for scalable governance across multiple teams and products
- The shift from traditional measures of success to value-focused delivery
What’s New in PRINCE2® Agile V2?
PRINCE2® Agile v2 has been reimagined to support modern agile delivery with a sharper, more practical focus:
Agile Mindset & Culture
It’s not just about applying agile tools – it’s about being agile. V2 emphasises psychological safety, sustainable delivery, and a leadership style that empowers teams.
Agile Leadership
Leaders are now recognised as enablers of agile success, not just managers of process. The updated framework introduces clear guidance on fostering the conditions for agility to thrive.
Scaling and Governance
New material supports agile delivery across multi-team, multi-product, and cross-functional environments – with guidance on how to scale responsibly.
Value-Centric Performance
Updated performance measures go beyond time, cost, and scope – focusing on customer value, responsiveness, and team adaptability.
PRINCE2® 7 Alignment
While PRINCE2® Agile remains a standalone framework, it now aligns with PRINCE2® 7 terminology, performance metrics, and governance principles.
What’s Improved?
- Tailoring for context – Practical guidance on adapting PRINCE2 Agile for your projects and teams
- Clearer language – Refined and accessible terminology for agile and traditional audiences
- Hands-on learning – Real-life examples, workshops, and case studies built into training
- Updated practices – Integrated support for Scrum, Kanban, SAFe®, and other popular methods

In moste cases, yes. PeopleCert states that holding the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation qualification is a mandatory prerequisite for sitting the PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner exam.
However, PRINCE2 Agile Foundation is not required if you already hold one of the following recognised PRINCE2 qualifications:

- and has a pass mark of 60 percent.
PRINCE2 Agile certifications are valid for three years.
To remain current, certification holders must renew within that period, either by re-taking the exam or by maintaining certification through the PeopleCert Plus membership (also in our offer) and continuing professional development requirements.
Althris Training uses a proven dual methodology applied consistently across all programmes. This combines Training from the BACK of the Room! (TBR), a learner-centred, brain-based approach developed by Sharon L. Bowman, with Action Learning, developed by Reg Revans.
Training from the BACK of the Room! is grounded in neuroscience and cognitive psychology and focuses on active participation, collaboration, short interactive learning cycles, and practical reinforcement to improve engagement and long-term retention. Action Learning complements this by enabling participants to work on real, current workplace challenges in small groups, using structured questioning, reflection, and action commitments.
By combining these methodologies, Althris ensures training is engaging, relevant, and immediately applicable. Participants do not just learn theory but actively apply concepts to real organisational situations during the course and leave with clear actions they can implement in the workplace.
